Reasons to love Django #1
#1 - It works on Dreamhost!
Initially when starting out playing around with my first Django project I had real concerns about whether I would develop anything productive and secondly whether I’d be able to host the app on my Dreamhost account. Being a yorkshire man, I’m notoriously tight with my money, especially when it comes to hosting!
After consulting the list of Django Friendly Web Hosts it turns out that Dreamhost are listed as a ‘friendly’ host and hey presto after 15 minutes with the assistance of Jeff Croft’s great article on how to set Django up on Dreamhost I’m up and running with suprising ease.
How long this lasts remains to be seen, I’ve heard alot of issues with Dreamhost’s limited server resources and random acts of weirdness meaning Django can be a bit of a pain to host, as Ryan Berg illustrates.
Watch this space.
